How much fish do we consume?
Fisheries have a crucial role in feeding the global population. Global seafood consumption has more than doubled in the past 50 years, putting stress on the sustainability of fishing.This has increased pressure on fish stocks across the world. According to the State of World Fishery and Aquaculture 202 (FAO 2020), the global capture fisheries production rose 14% from 1990 to 2018 and in 2018 it reached 96.4million tonnes. Capture fisheries support over 120 million people around the globe.
