Gridded Livestock of the World - Sheep
Global data sets on the geographic distribution of livestock are essential for diverse applications in agricultural socio-economics, food security, environmental impact assessment and epidemiology.
This dataset contains the global distribution of sheep in 2010 expressed in total number of sheep per pixel (5 min of arc) according to the Gridded Livestock of the World database (GLW 3).
The domestic sheep is raised primarily for its wool, meat, milk and hides. Sheep are primarily grazing animals, cropping pasture close to the ground. They are raised in a wide range of production systems around the world, reflecting the prevailing environmental conditions and socio-economic context.
