The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) is planning to host the Regional Geospatial Forum for Inclusive Biodiversity Action, taking place from 9-12 June 2026, at RCMRD, Nairobi, Kenya. The forum is organised under the Regional Centre of Excellence for Biodiversity, Forests and Seascape Ecosystem Management (RCoE) project, funded by the European Union and implemented by CIFOR-ICRAF in collaboration with RCMRD.
This forum directly contributes to the implementation key targets of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, specifically:
- Target 21- ensure knowledge availability
- Target 22- ensure participation in decision-making
- Target 23- gender equality and responsiveness
By strengthening inclusive, gender-responsive, and community-led biodiversity action, the forum promotes the meaningful participation of women, youth, and Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs) in conservation planning and decision-making. It also aims to enhance their capacity to use geospatial data and tools to support monitoring, reporting, and evidence-based policy engagement.
