ArcX in Action: Powering Regional Collaboration Through Geospatial Innovation

A new StoryMap by the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD), presents the purpose, progress, and impact of the ArcX initiative as it works to strengthen biodiversity conservation, sustainable land use, and climate-resilient ecosystem management across Eastern and Southern Africa. Through integrated geospatial analysis, regional collaboration, and targeted capacity building, the initiative supports countries in understanding environmental change, identifying priority conservation areas, and applying data-driven approaches to decision-making.

The StoryMap highlights key achievements, tools developed, and insights generated, showcasing how spatial information and technology are being used to address threats such as habitat loss, land degradation, and unsustainable resource use. By visualizing landscapes, seascapes, and community-level interventions, it illustrates how coordinated action can enhance ecological integrity, support livelihoods, and guide evidence-based planning across the region.
